Image & Video Manager is an out-of-the-box solution that automatically optimizes and enhances images, animated GIFs, and videos for every user. It provides the ideal combination of quality, format, and size that is best suited for that user’s device, browser, and network connection at the very moment they access a website or mobile app. Image & Video Manager delivers media optimization, byte reduction, and compatibility assurance. More than 30 artistic transformations — such as interactive zoom and pan, color and transparency changes, overlays, watermarks, resizing, cropping, and more — can be applied through selective application of policies.

How Image & Video Manager works

Image & Video Manager is a developer-friendly solution that is plug and play. It can fit into any workflow, as no code changes or domain changes are necessary. Image & Video Manager can either take full control of your images via presets or give you the full control to individually optimize your images via its query language. It uses an original pristine image file or video to create derivatives of varying sizes and formats, then dynamically selects which one to serve based on the device and browser making the request. Image & Video Manager makes responsive web design significantly easier, cheaper, and more efficient.

When Image & Video Manager creates the different video sizes, it simply “fits” the video inside those dimensions so the aspect ratio is never changed. Image & Video Manager will not add letterboxing (i.e., black bars) to the sides of the video that are not filled by the video.

Image & Video Manager offers visibility into network awareness for images, as well as real-time vs. offline vs. unprocessable insights on images and videos.

The Image Manager API offers an end-to-end solution to archive, manage, and deliver transformed images based on your defined policies.
