This chart uses data collected and grouped by industry and sub-industry, generated by Akamai servers responding to real user requests.
Akamai set a new company record when web traffic delivered across our edge network peaked at 250 terabits per second (Tbps).
As is often the case with these peak traffic milestones, a high-profile sporting event and major video game download were the primary drivers. To put that into perspective, at 250 Tbps you could download every feature film ever made in 37 seconds. Of course, it would take 51 straight years of nonstop viewing to watch them all.

This chart uses data collected and grouped by all industries, and is generated by our own monitoring and mitigation of actual DDoS attacks.
A sophisticated 1.44 Tbps and 385 Mpps DDoS attack in May 2020 was mitigated by Akamai.
At the end of May 2020, we hit a record on the Akamai platform with a 372 million packets per second (Mpps) attack. To handle an attack of this magnitude and complexity, we used a combination of automatic and human mitigation to protect our customers and their users.
